Androgenic Alopecia, commonly known as Male Pattern Baldness (MPB) is responsible for hair loss in the vast majority of male cases.

In Ireland, some 70% of men, and almost 40% of women will suffer from some type of hair loss over their lifetime.

There are other reasons for hair loss, including serious disease, reaction to medications, and in some rare cases severe stress; but most hair loss in men can be blamed on heredity.

Male Pattern Baldness sufferers inherit hair follicles with a genetic sensitivity to Dihydrotestosterone (DHT).

DHT is a metabolite of testosterone, and it miniaturises hair follicles by shortening the anagen (growth) phase and/or lengthening the telogen (resting) phase of the hair follicle.

Most Hair Loss in Men can be blamed on Heredity

These affected follicles begin to miniaturise, producing thinner, finer hair until eventually hair growth ceases altogether. Once that happens, the follicle is sterile and the hair is lost forever.

At Therapie Hair Restoration, we understand that hair loss can have a serious psychological impact, resulting in loss of confidence and self-esteem; even anxiety and depression in more serious cases.

Effectively addressing hair loss with surgical or non-surgical techniques will allow many patients to recapture a more youthful appearance, a renewed hairline and regain their confidence.
